YOUNG PEOPLE’S DAY CAMP OF LONG ISLAND -

YOUNG PEOPLE’S DAY CAMP OF LONG ISLAND

Welcome to Young People’s Day Camp (YPDC) of Long Island!  With locations in both Suffolk and Nassau counties, we have been providing fun, safe, affordable camping to families across Long Island for over 48 years. We cater to children ages 4-15 and offer flexible enrollment with 2-8 week programs. Family owned and operated, we take pride in the relationships we build in our community and with our camp families, always putting children and their well-being above all else.

 -

Our philosophy is to “grow” children intellectually, physically and spiritually in a fun, inclusive environment. Led by a team of certified teachers and educators, we strive to build friendships and self-confidence in all of our campers through sports, the arts, STEM activities, swim, adventures and more.

 -

We are an accredited camp, fully licensed and insured. During these unprecedented times, we are committed to doing everything we can to give our campers a summer that is safe while allowing them to enjoy the wonders of childhood.

Transportation Included! -

Transportation Included!

We fully understand the challenges of working parents, which is why transportation for every camper has always been a trademark of YPDC. Transportation is included in our camp fees, which are amongst the most affordable on Long Island.  Safe, reliable transportation is a top priority for us.

Affordable!

YPDC of Long Island was built on the philosophy that  ALL children should have the opportunity to experience day camp, and that cost should not be a barrier. Our camp is considered to be one of the most affordable private day camps across Long Island. Our tuition includes transportation and we offer discounts for union members and siblings. We also offer flexible payment options and plans to best meet your needs.

Safety First!

As stated, we are an accredited camp, licensed by the Suffolk and Nassau County Departments of Health. We are CPR and First Aid certified and our water-front staff is made up of certified lifeguards and certified Pool Activity Leaders. We follow all CDC guidelines and continue to pass inspections year after year, without pause for concern. As parents ourselves, we know that trusting someone with your child(ren) is the most important decision you can make. We appreciate your trust in us and always do for your children as we would do for our own.

Meet Our Executive Directors -

Meet Our Executive Directors

“Hi - I’m Brendan McCaffrey, Director of YPDC Nassau. I joined the YPDC family in 1995, where prior to becoming the Director of our Nassau camp, was the Director of our Staten Island and Monmouth, NJ camps.  I am a graduate of Canisius College where I was the captain of the Varsity Basketball team. Upon graduation, I entered the United States Marine Corps where I served with distinction as an Officer.  In addition to being the Director of YPDC, I am a Social Studies Chairperson in the North Babylon School District, where I also coach the Boys Varsity Basketball team.  My entire career has been centered around teaching and developing children to reach their fullest potential. I draw on my athletic background and leadership experience to provide our campers with a program that builds confidence and skills in a fun, safe environment. I enjoy meeting all of our parents and am here to answer any questions you may have.  You can reach me at [email protected]"

“Hi - I’m Mike Davidson, Director of YPDC Suffolk and Executive Director of YPDC Nassau.  I am a retired NYC History teacher, school administrator, and coach (football and girls softball). Teaching and inspiring children has always been the thing in life that I am most passionate about professionally. I started in the camping business before my own kids were born and have continued to grow and evolve our camp over the years. As a working parent, my objective was - and still is - to provide a summer camp experience for ALL children - - an experience that is safe, fun, and affordable. I am proud of the generations of families that have been with us over the years, as it’s quite rewarding to have the children of former campers come through our doors! I am always available to speak with you, no question is too small. You can reach me at [email protected]"

About Our Staff

The YPDC Long Island Leadership team is made up of teachers, school administrators and Emergency Medical Technicians.  Our counselors are primarily college students majoring in education, physical education, the arts and early childhood, as well as high school students embarking on their senior year. We have a number of “camp moms” to help round out our team, who are always there to provide just that extra touch! We take careful consideration in our hiring process, ensuring that those who are leading and caring for your children are passionate and enthusiastic about the summer camp experience!
