Watch 3-1/2-year-old Rachael learn 40 words in her first session with The Dicker Reading Method
The Dicker Reading Method works for everyone from pre-school/kindergarteners through 12th grade, from the educationally challenged to the gifted. Over 10,000 students have become proficient-even avid-readers after participating in this revolutionary reading program. Whether your child is reading below, at, or above grade level, your child will accomplish 3 to 6 years of reading achievement in less than one year-advancing 1 to 3 years every 4-8 weeks! Parents and teachers will see immediate improvement in fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development. Your child's grades, confidence, and self-esteem will soar as they learn to love reading and school!
The Dicker Reading Method can be broken down into three programs: reading instruction for pre-schoolers and kindergarteners, reading instruction for school-age children, and reading instruction for children labeled learning disabled, ADD/ADHD, or dyslexic.
With the Dicker Reading Method for Pre-Schoolers and Kindergarteners, your 3,4, or 5-year old child will:
Learn to read 15 to 30 words in the first session.
Learnto read their first book fluently.
Learn to read in a nurturing environment that is safe, easy, fun, and life's most exciting game.
*We have pre-schoolers and kindergarteners in the program reading on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, even 5th grade levels.
We Will Solve Your Child's Reading Problem. If your child has difficulty in reading: leaving off endings, adding on endings, substituting one word for another, hesitating on words, not knowing the meaning of words, then he or she will develop a hesitant reading style. This hesitancy will cause your child to become unfocused and unable to concentrate. If your child is making many mistakes on the words, he or she will not be able to remember what the story is about. When your child is unfocused and unable to concentrate, he or she will resist learning, and you the parent will then fight your child's resistance, resulting in a constant battle. Every child reading below grade level child who we've worked with has this ongoing struggle to varying degrees. The Dicker Reading Method will end this struggle.
Al Dicker, creator and director of the Dicker Reading Method, launched his career as educator in the New York City public school system more than 35 years ago. Dicker developed the Dicker Reading Method as a solution to the illiteracy problem in the United States. He first experienced considerable success teaching children with Down syndrome to read. Dicker asked himself, "If I can get a child with Down syndrome to read on a 6th grade level, why are half of America's children battling illiteracy?" Dicker decided his life's purpose was to improve literacy for both children and adults.
In 1989, Dicker retired from the New York City Board of Education to further expand his reading program, opening a private tutoring center in Scarsdale, NY where the Dicker Reading Method has helped over 10,000 students from Pre-School to 12th grade accomplish remarkable results. Al Dicker holds a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Connecticut and a M.A. in Education and Special Education from NYU.
