Vicki's Dance Studio Adds Two Specialty Classes to Summer Schedule

Vicki's Dance Studio Adds Two Specialty Classes to Summer Schedule

Vicki’s Dance Studio in New City is adding two new specialty classes to its roster this summer: Technique, Conditioning, and Strengthening, and Tumbling, Turns, and Tricks. Both classes are slated to be offered June 24-Aug. 23. Vicki's Dance Studio offers recreational and competitive dance programs for kids of all ages, including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical dance, hip-hop, gymnastics, and musical theater, as well as Mommy & Me classes for babies and toddlers, dance classes for adults, and Zumba.

The studio is also home to the Rockland All Star Dance Teams. Open to dancers ages 5 to 18, these teams compete and perform throughout the area. While anyone ages 5 to 18 is welcome to participate in the new specialty classes this summer, both are designed specifically for those who want to improve their performance. Key candidates? Those already planning to dance in the fall.

“The best part about it,” says Owner Vicki Giannetti, “is when kids start in September, they’re already prepared.”

In Technique, Conditioning, and Strengthening, students will work on building stamina and tightening their technique through the use of ankle weights, medicine balls, cardio work and obstacle courses. Those in Tumbling, Turns, and Tricks will focus on acrobatics, or moves that are, as Giannetti describes, “off-foot”: back handsprings and flips, both necessities for hip-hop. In both classes, students are divided according to age and skill level. This allows the instructors to provide each dancer with the individualized coaching they need.

Whether it’s in a competitive or recreational capacity, Vicki’s Dance Studio wants to ensure that kids who want to dance get to.

“That’s my goal with dancing,” says Giannetti. “Every child feels differently about what they want to get out of the program. I want to make sure that they find the best fit for them.”

The two new specialty classes will take place in the afternoons and evenings Monday through Friday from June 24 to Aug. 23. Kids are able to sign up for individual classes; they do not need to register for the entire session.

Vicki’s Dance Studio is located in 61 Maple Ave, New City. For more information, call 845-634-2202 or visit the Vicki's Dance Studio website.
