Celebrate the harvest and explore the history and culture of Westchester’s Native American residents through traditional dance, folktales, song, and demonstrations of open-hearth cooking, medicine-making, wampum- and treenware-making, games, live music, and hands-on craft activities. Picnic food will be available for purchase.
Greenburgh Nature Center in Scarsdale
Sept. 9
The whole family can help Greenburgh Nature Center reap the harvest of their gardens and hives. Explore the organic garden with naturalists Dean Fausel and Greg Wechgelaer, then help make apple cider with a hand-operated press. The honey harvest will be extracted indoors and away from active outdoor beehives by beekeeper H. Peet Foster, and there will be a tasting of fresh honey from the hives.
John Jay Homestead, Katonah
Sept. 15
Westchester families who don’t consider it truly autumn until pigs swim know just where to head! This year’s dance includes an informal barbecue, ice cream sundaes, arts and crafts, and music by local bands. The swimming pig races will be held in the evening.
The Seabury at Fieldhome, Cortlandt Manor
Sept. 22
There will be arts and crafts, a classic car show, pumpkin patch, homemade bake sale, fall plants sale, great food, live entertainment, and a kids’ zone with inflatable rides, pumpkin decorating, face painting, petting zoo, pony rides, and games and prizes. FREE!
Green Chimneys, Brewster
Sept. 29
This festival is packed with fall fun for all. The day begins with a Children’s Harvest Fun Run around the Green Chimneys horse barn, followed by seasonal activities like the Pumpkin Roll, pumpkin decorating, hayrides, and a hay maze. Additional activities include a bungee trampoline, pony rides, arts and crafts for kids, wildlife demonstrations, and other live animal events. Visitors are encouraged to explore Green Chimneys’ renowned Farm & Wildlife Center, which is home to nearly 300 animals.

Oct. 21
Cider making, scarecrow-building, and pumpkin-carving contests, a petting zoo, scavenger hunts, tractor rides, a zip line, and live music.
