Description: Non-scary fun for children ages 8 and younger. This is a G-rated version of the walk-through style, interactive haunted house.
Venue Description: For more than 75 years, Playland Amusement Park has been providing recreation, entertainment, and delight to Westchester County. The 280-acre theme park in Rye ---declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987--features 27 major thrill rides, 21 kiddie rides, a 19-hole miniature golf course, a public pool and beach, three indoor ice skating rinks, and a boardwalk. Playland also hosts special events including concerts, dance performances, fireworks, comedy shows, acrobatics, magic shows, and more--all of which make the park a fun place to have a birthday party.
Playland's oldest attraction is the Dragon Coaster, one of the nation's few wooden roller coasters still in operation. Another historic attraction is the Grand Carousel, built in 1915 in New Haven, CT., but moved to Playland in 1927. On the park's newest ride, Super Flight, riders lie on their stomachs to experience plunging turns and two zero-gravity rolls.
Playland is located at 1 Playland Parkway in Rye on the Long Island Sound. The park generally operates from early May through mid-September, but specific operating hours vary weekly. Playland offers admission bands and point cards. An all-day unlimited ride band is $30; Junior (under 48 inches tall) is $20; A non-rider band is $10. Westchester County residents are eligible for discounts on these rates with a valid proof of residency. Point cards are available at $1 per point and can be used on rides or for food purchases.
On weekdays parking is $5 per car, weekends $7. For more information and a detailed calendar, call 914-813-7010 or visit ryeplayland.org.
